Objectives
|
|
Computer networking is an enormously complex subject, involving many concepts, protocols, and technologies that are woven together. Using the Internet as a vehicle, this course aims to introduce fundamental principles and concepts of computer networking. We will use a top-down approach to study the Internet's architecture and protocols: the application, transport, network, data link, and physical layers. Students will first study popular network applications such as Web, email, FTP, and P2P, then study communications services and protocols required to support these applications. The course will also cover advanced topics including wireless and mobile networking.
